A few days later, she receives a letter from an attorney in New York.
“Miss Elena, you must come to America immediately. Your father has died.”

He had tried to return to Albania.

Someone had wanted Mira and Alexander to remain separated forever.
The reason is connected to Alexander’s company—and to a financial secret he had discovered many years earlier.
THE GREAT TWIST
Elena initially believes that she has come to America to claim her inheritance.
But she gradually realizes that her father had planned everything.

Instead, she establishes a foundation in her mother’s name to support the families of victims of Albania’s communist dictatorship and to help young Albanians pursue their education in the United States.
Then she returns to Shkodra.
Inside the house where Mira once lived, Elena places a photograph of her mother beside a photograph of her father.
For the first time, they are together.
But just when Elena believes that everything is finally over, she discovers an envelope hidden in her father’s archive—one she had never opened.
Written on it are the words:
“For my daughter. If you have found this letter, it means you have discovered only half of the truth.”
Elena opens the envelope.
Inside is a photograph.
Alexander.
Mira.
And another child.
On the back of the photograph are five chilling words:
“Do not seek the fortune. Find your brother.”
